****THE FULL DESCRIPTION*****
You’ll get a feeling for this breath-taking country as we acroventure to the highlights and some hidden treasures of the Slovenian Alps.
Each day starts with a warm-up and alternating workshop unit, followed by a hearty breakfast. Each day also features an acro-workshop in a changing outdoor location and free time to relax, jam or work on your own acro practice in free training slots guided by our acro teachers, of which we will have 4 on this trip: Judith & Leander will be leading the main progressive workshop blocks, Timothy will do a the daily warm-up and handstand session and to mix it all up even more we will throw in some yoga, slackline, slackro, acro montreal style, and wilderness skills with Eva. All of them will be present during free training for advice.
From Ljubljana we will head into the heart of Triglav National Park together and move along and above the iconic Soča River on foot. Our trip starts with a hike to the source and we will then follow its emerald waters along the Soča Trail. In between we will do a bigger hike to the sunny pastures above the valley and then one big overnight hike. In addition to the 11km we walk along the Soča River from camp to camp, we will do two detouring summit hikes. The second is a beautiful two-day hike with an overnight stay in a mountain hut.
The day after spending the night in the mountain hut will start with a lake mediation before we head back to our camp. On all the hikes you will get to see the local forest and amazing mountain views. These spectacular spots offer great opportunities for acro and photos.
The Soča Trail is one of Slovenia’s most iconic trails. Following the crystal clear emerald waters of the Soča, it offers numerous swimming spots, mountain views and lots of funky bridges, which have come to be our favourite spot for acro photos. Very conveniently it allows us to refill our water bottles, as well or just to drink straight from the river.
Judith & Leander will be leading the main workshop block during the trip. Both share a love for funky moves and transitions and flowy washing machines. Together their teaching style focusses on how to build up to a certain move or pose and how different body types can be incorporated. Participants will be able to benefit from their love of perfection and desire to understand all the parts involved. Based on their extensive teaching experience Judith & Leander are able to adapt the workshop contents to the group’s needs, level and energy.
BUILDING IT UP
The first workshop block will focus on refining the different poses in L-basing and introducing various technical drills to improve participant’s acro in general, including working on foot2hand and hand2hand drills. Depending on the group’s level this will work towards Chinese Roll and L-base hand2hand (regular and reverse) and some challenging balances.
LETTING IT FLOW
The second part will be all about washing machines that flow. To get there, Judith & Leander will teach techniques for bases and flyers to make transitions feel light and easy. They will work on smoothness and introduce some funny / weird transitions. In the spotlight are flowy sequences that emphasise playfulness, creativity, communication, connection and solid technique.
POP, LIFT AND REPEAT
The last part will be about basic Icarian, fun pops and dance lifts. The workshop contents will adjust to the group’s level and lots of fun and challenges will be guaranteed when doing washing machines with pops and incorporating the skills learnt during the week.
***ABOUT THE TEACHERS*****
Judith and Leander both share a love for acro. They met while playing acro in the park and became acro partners shortly after. Flowy washing machines and breaking them down are their speciality. Judith has a background in classical ballet and yoga and in 2016 and 2017 she did a teacher training with Det Rijven & Jim Klinkhamer. Leander’s is in yoga and bodywork. Together their teaching style focusses on how to build up to a certain move and how different body types can be incorporated. Participants will be able to benefit from their love of perfection and desire to understand all the parts involved in their funky transitions.
Their approach to acro is an exquisite blend of nerdiness with a focus on progressions and technique while keeping an overall playful and no-pressure atmosphere in their classes.
DAILY WARM-UP & HANDSTANDS
These units are about good technique, lasting progress and of course fun with regard to handstands and general movement practice. You will learn about correct body alignment, injury prevention and a structured training allowing you to progress safely to solo handstands. In between handstand sessions, Eva, Leander or Judith will teach a Yoga class in the morning or you can learn some wilderness skills with Lilli.
ARRIVAL: Tuesday June 11th, 2019 – We will gather in Ljubljana and drive together into the Julian Alps and set up our camp. After introduction to our weekly schedule we will start our AcroVenture.
DEPARTURE Tuesday June 18th, 2018 – We will conclude our AcroVenture with a bonfire feast and fresh trout from the Soča River. Our last night together is the 17th before we depart back to Ljubljana in the morning of the 18th of June.

Regular Price: 710€ (includes everything)
****ABOUT THE TEACHERS****
Judith’s passion for movement started at a very young age. As a toddler she did ballet and kept on dancing until she was in her twenties. While initially being scared of being upside down in any form, she now feels she needs to do at least one handstand a day. To her acro is more than just a set of moves. Through acro she practices patience, kindness and playfulness. She loves how it makes her discover and explore more about herself and her connection with others. She has been a yoga teacher since 2012 and has done trainings around the world in Vinyasa, Anusara, Prana Flow and Yoga Therapy. She is also a certified Thai Masseur. In 2016 and 2017 she did an acrobatics teacher training with Det Rijven and Jim Klinkhamer.
*Leander van de Visse (Leandro Maquisapa)*
15 years ago Leander saw a yoga demonstration by an old man. He was so impressed that he decided to start practicing, as well. This sparked an interest in spirituality and natural medicine and he wanted to live in nature for a while. He moved to the Peruvian jungle and found a job in a national park. He loved it so much there that he ended up staying for several years, exploring the jungle and hanging out with the monkeys.
Back in Amsterdam he studied at the Iokai Shiatsu School and later went to India to study Ashtanga Yoga. He now works as a massage therapist. Having lived with the monkeys he felt right at home when he discovered the acro community. He was lucky enough to find Judith in the park without a base and he’s been throwing her around ever since.
In early 2015 Timothy discovered acro as a nice offset to his office job in software development. He quickly realized that acro is far more than just a workout. It involves trust, commitment, joy, progressive training, cooperation, communication. All this in just one practice – incredible!!
Timothy became addicted to handstand training in late 2017. He realised that it helped him to navigate more difficult tricks and moves in acro, since it gave him more stability, strength and confidence in his practice. Sharing his handstand journey with the participants is what he is looking forward to on these trips.
Timothy enjoys travelling, meeting new people and sharing his passion for acro. Whenever possible acro is part of his travels by attending conventions or jams all over the world.
Eva is co-organiser for AcroVentures Slovenia. She is a seeker of all sports and activities that take her into the great outdoors. Her mantra is less gear, more freedom of movement. As a certified Vinyasa Yoga and acro teacher (Acro Montreal) she is forever patient and compassionate and emphasizes cooperation with effective technique to build confidence and a solid foundation for your personal practices.
She will also be guiding our hikes and offering her input on improving overall body awareness and movement. As a Yogaslackers teacher she will for sure bring along her slackline and teach you some tricks.
