barefootyoga.me – AcroVenture Retreat

September 12, 2020 - September 18, 2020

| Submitted by Kerstin Kaufmann

In our retreats, we teach basic and advanced techniques with up to 8 hours of daily practice, including acrobatics, yoga, contact improvisation, breathwork, bodywork and meditation. Together we are going to explore the offerings of a professional movement based mentoring tailored to the practitioner’s individual level and needs. This journey of self-discovery will not only help you to deepen your practice but also unfold an essential aspect of your innermost self.

About the Format:
This retreat offers you a wide range of playful elements, including important principles of acrobatics (L-basing, washing machines, whips, pops and flows), functional movement, open play, contact improvisation, martial arts, bodywork, yin yoga and community building. The core of this week will be about cultivating trust, strength and flexibility, within ourselves and as a group of dedicated movers.

Our Teaching Style:
Each season we select a fine variety of facilitators to create a unique and lasting learning environment. Our classes are held in an uplifting, fun and refreshing way. By splitting the main workshops into two levels we can ensure that beginners as much as intermediate practitioners are being met on their level of experience.

Your Holiday Package:
Alongside an extensive schedule filled with 5 workshops a day, you will find many opportunities to spend your time outdoors. We strive to only chose the best locations to make sure our participants get enough time in a nurturing environment.

Daily routine:
Following a warm-up of functional movement and yoga, we will work on building up a fundamental skill set in acrobatics. The integration and focus on inversions, handstands and L-basing flows will be an essential part of your morning practice. In the afternoon, we will dedicate our time to a more playful side of moving. Depending on the group there will be classes in contact improvisation, martial arts, partner games and 2 hours of FTC (free training with coaches) waiting for you. This will be your opportunity to work on specific skills and refine them with the coaches on site. After a full day of movement exploration, we will round off the day with a nourishing meal and a connective evening therapeutics class.

Andres Covelli
The desire to move every part of my body, the passion to be anything I can imagine, the need to play in life; to stand on my hands and spin on my head, to bend backwards and forward, to roll over like a little kid, to fall over just to get up again. This is how I learnt to live my life. Lover of nature, collector of tattoos, believer of magic and the power of love…. This is what led me to yoga years ago. I wanted to keep the energy flowing and to challenge myself daily.
Andres will be teaching Yoga and Acrobatics. His classes are dynamic and always connected to breath, balance and most important alot of fun!

Camilla Pelligrini
Camilla is an enthusiastic teacher whose journey in movement begun with yoga. After a few years of deep immersion in this practice, her path unraveled into many other disciplines such as acrobatics, dance and massage therapy. In her acro practice she likes to balance fluidity and precision, and loves to interchange roles. She is constantly amazed by the power of creativity and exploration in movement, and her biggest motivation as a teacher is the chance to share all the gifts she received in this journey.
Camilla will be teaching Acrobatics to our community. Always ready for a joke and italian swag she will be rocking the stage with Matteo Bagaz.

Wotan Alvaro Sun

Matteo Bagaz
Is an ethusiastics acroyoga teacher certified by Acroyoga Montreal. Since his early childhood he was spending as much time as possible in the nature, exploring different types of movement, especially in the mountains. He discovered Acroyoga during an highline meeting and it was love at the first sight. Since that moment in 2015 he keeps on travelling through Europe (italy and spain in particular) to explore new styles and forms of acrobatic movements. He likes to share food, tell bad and good jokes as well as play fun games with the people around him. His main focus are the adaptability of the practice to the different types of body shapes and the safety for all the practioners. As an Hybrid acroyogi, he always likes to try every transitions as a base and a flyer.
Big smiles, funny moments and creativity inputs are the recipe of Matteos classes, all conducted in english with a little bit of italian accent and, of course, a lot of gestures.
