barefootyoga.me – Spring Upside Down Retreat

May 23, 2020 - May 29, 2020

| Submitted by Kerstin Kaufmann

In our retreats, we teach basic and advanced techniques with up to 8 hours of daily practice, including acrobatics, yoga, contact improvisation, breathwork, bodywork and meditation. Together we are going to explore the offerings of a professional movement based mentoring tailored to the practitioner’s individual level and needs. This journey of self-discovery will not only help you to deepen your practice but also unfold an essential aspect of your innermost self.

About the Format:
This retreat offers you a wide range of playful elements, including important principles of acrobatics (L-basing, washing machines, whips, pops and flows), functional movement, open play, contact improvisation, martial arts, bodywork, yin yoga and community building. The core of this week will be about cultivating trust, strength and flexibility, within ourselves and as a group of dedicated movers.

Our Teaching Style:
Each season we select a fine variety of facilitators to create a unique and lasting learning environment. Our classes are held in an uplifting, fun and refreshing way. By splitting the main workshops into two levels we can ensure that beginners as much as intermediate practitioners are being met on their level of experience.

Your Holiday Package:
Alongside an extensive schedule filled with 5 workshops a day, you will find many opportunities to spend your time outdoors. We strive to only chose the best locations to make sure our participants get enough time in a nurturing environment.

Daily routine:
Following a warm-up of functional movement and yoga, we will work on building up a fundamental skill set in acrobatics. The integration and focus on inversions, handstands and L-basing flows will be an essential part of your morning practice. In the afternoon, we will dedicate our time to a more playful side of moving. Depending on the group there will be classes in contact improvisation, martial arts, partner games and 2 hours of FTC (free training with coaches) waiting for you. This will be your opportunity to work on specific skills and refine them with the coaches on site. After a full day of movement exploration, we will round off the day with a nourishing meal and a connective evening therapeutics class.
