Expect outdoor life galore, bonfire magic, acro every day, slacklining and other outdoor action, sunshine days and starlit nights and lots of fun. We set the stage and the rest is up to you!

You’ll get a feeling for this breath-taking country as we acroventure to the highlights and some hidden treasures of the Slovenian Alps.

Each day starts with a warm-up and handstand workshop unit, followed by a hearty breakfast. In between we will also offer alternating yoga, wilderness skills or ‘freezy fun’ session. Each day also features an acro-workshop either on the campsite or in a changing outdoor location along the hikes. On the hikes and after, there will also be enough free time to relax, take a swim, jam or work on your own acro practice in free training slots guided by our acro teachers. On this trip we will have Judith & Leander guiding beginner-friendly, yet fresh and fun workshops. This will be mixed up with Eva’s slackline, Slackro, Acro Montreal and Timothy’s handstand and acro skills. All of them will be present during free training for advice.

From Ljubljana we will head into the heart of Triglav National Park together and move along and above the iconic Soča River on foot. Our trip starts with a hike to the source and we will then follow its emerald waters along the Soča Trail. In between we will do one bigger hike to the sunny pastures above the valley to get some alpine mountain views and a bigger picture of our location.

In addition to the 11km we walk along the Soča River, we will do a summit hike with an acro workshop on a beautiful mountain top. During the free time there is always the option to go and explore by yourself, practice what you have learnt in the workshops, go for a swim, take a trip to nearby outdoor adventure town Bovec or get a taste of the local cheeses on a cheese tasting in our village.

Our summit hike starts right at our campground and takes us up to 1400m, where we will have the possibility to do acro while overlooking the Soča Valley. On the way we will see the local forest before we reach the ridge and the mountain views.

The Soča Trail is one of Slovenia’s most iconic trails. Following the crystal clear emerald waters of the Soča, it offers numerous swimming spots, mountain views and lots of funky bridges, which have come to be our favourite spot for acro photos. Very conveniently it allows us to refill our water bottles, as well or just to drink straight from the river.

Immerse yourself in an acroyoga practice that is fun, engaging and exciting and outdoors! What makes AcroVentures special is that we do our workshops on the mountain and right by the river. That way you can have an immediate refreshment with the whole group anytime by jumping off the cliff.
In the workshops we will focus on building strong foundations, learning new transitions and funky moves while having lots of fun and widening our acro repertoire with the help of Judith and Leander’s love for details and technical knowledge.
You don’t have to be strong, athletic or flexible, all you have to be is open and willing and enjoy the journey.

THE BASICS: In the first part we will focus on the basic principles of moving with a partner. We will explore concepts like stacking, coordination, counterbalances, connection, body positioning and tightness, timing and safety. It is important for everyone to speak the same acrobatic language before we dive deeper into the practice. Judith and Leander will teach these skills in a fun and creative way.

SMOOTH TRANSITIONS: The 2nd unit will be dedicated to fun and challenging transitions and flows. We will focus on the more subtle communication between base and flyer. Our goal is to not just go quickly into the next pose, but to be in balance at all times. We will achieve this by moving together and communicating effectively to our partners.

WASHING TIME: In this unit we will move on to sequences and washing machines by connecting different transitions. Throughout the entire trip we will work towards building a more challenging washing machine or sequence, which we will break down into accessible steps to learn the technique. Our teaching speciality is to offer several mini washing machines that can be added to or that can later be combined.

Judith and Leander both share a love for acro. They met while playing acro in the park and became acro partners shortly after. Flowy washing machines and breaking them down are their speciality. Judith has a background in classical ballet and yoga and in 2016 and 2017 she did a teacher training with Det Rijven & Jim Klinkhamer. Leander’s is in yoga and bodywork. Together their teaching style focusses on how to build up to a certain move and how different body types can be incorporated. Participants will be able to benefit from their love of perfection and desire to understand all the parts involved in their funky transitions.
Their approach to acro is an exquisite blend of nerdiness with a focus on progressions and technique while keeping an overall playful and no-pressure atmosphere in their classes.

These units are about good technique, lasting progress and of course fun with regard to handstands and general movement practice. You will learn about correct body alignment, injury prevention and a structured training allowing you to progress safely to solo handstands. In between handstand sessions, Eva, Leander or Judith will teach a Yoga class in the morning or you can learn some wilderness skills with Lilli.

ARRIVAL: Thursday June 20th, 2019 – We will gather in Ljubljana in the morning and drive together into the Julian Alps and set up our first camp. After introduction to our weekly schedule we will start our AcroVenture.
DEPARTURE: Thursday August 27th, 2019 – We will conclude our AcroVenture with a bonfire feast and fresh trout from the Soča River. Our last night together is the 26th before we depart back to Ljubljana in the morning of the 27th of June.

When we write number of days, this means full days. There are no half days on an AcroVenture, we have a lot we want to share!
Early Bird (till March 20th): 650€ (includes everything)
Regular Price: 710€ (includes everything)

*Judith Groot*
Judith’s passion for movement started at a very young age. As a toddler she did ballet and kept on dancing until she was in her twenties. While initially being scared of being upside down in any form, she now feels she needs to do at least one handstand a day. To her acro is more than just a set of moves. Through acro she practices patience, kindness and playfulness. She loves how it makes her discover and explore more about herself and her connection with others. She has been a yoga teacher since 2012 and has done trainings around the world in Vinyasa, Anusara, Prana Flow and Yoga Therapy. She is also a certified Thai Masseur. In 2016 and 2017 she did an acrobatics teacher training with Det Rijven and Jim Klinkhamer.

*Leander van de Visse (Leandro Maquisapa)*
15 years ago Leander saw a yoga demonstration by an old man. He was so impressed that he decided to start practicing, as well. This sparked an interest in spirituality and natural medicine and he wanted to live in nature for a while. He moved to the Peruvian jungle and found a job in a national park. He loved it so much there that he ended up staying for several years, exploring the jungle and hanging out with the monkeys.
Back in Amsterdam he studied at the Iokai Shiatsu School and later went to India to study Ashtanga Yoga. He now works as a massage therapist. Having lived with the monkeys he felt right at home when he discovered the acro community. He was lucky enough to find Judith in the park without a base and he’s been throwing her around ever since.

*Timothy Weyrer*
In early 2015 Timothy discovered acro as a nice offset to his office job in software development. He quickly realized that acro is far more than just a workout. It involves trust, commitment, joy, progressive training, cooperation, communication. All this in just one practice – incredible!!
Timothy became addicted to handstand training in late 2017. He realised that it helped him to navigate more difficult tricks and moves in acro, since it gave him more stability, strength and confidence in his practice. Sharing his handstand journey with the participants is what he is looking forward to on these trips.
Timothy enjoys travelling, meeting new people and sharing his passion for acro. Whenever possible acro is part of his travels by attending conventions or jams all over the world.

*Eva Brovinsky*
Eva is co-organiser for AcroVentures Slovenia. She is a seeker of all sports and activities that take her into the great outdoors. Her mantra is less gear, more freedom of movement. As a certified Vinyasa Yoga and acro teacher (Acro Montreal) she is forever patient and compassionate and emphasizes cooperation with effective technique to build confidence and a solid foundation for your personal practices.
She will also be guiding our hikes and offering her input on improving overall body awareness and movement. As a Yogaslackers teacher she will for sure bring along her slackline and teach you some tricks.
